Truckfest Spanish Style

An annual event held in early July the San Pedro "Truckfest" sees a procession of hundreds of trucks (camiones in Spanish) parade through the streets of San Pedro del Pinatar (a small village town on the northern coast of the Mar Menor) with the usual gusto of the Spaniards.

With continuous horn blowing and engine revving (translation -> noise) the procession finally came to rest in an orderly fashion (for the Spanish) in the "Plaza Ingles", a large area of land in front of the newly constructed church.

There everyone had the opportunity to look at the these trucks, some with remarkable livery (paint jobs), racing trucks, some with extremely weird gismos, and even a miniature Renault that actually works and not forgetting the odd stunt truck.

As part of the festivities and one of the main attractions (for my wife) was the Paella Grande, a 2 metre Paella dished out to the attendees freely, accompanied by the customary beer (soft drinks for the kids ) and finished off with as much water melon as you can eat. The Spanish certainly know how to throw a party.....
